On Monday, CNN reported that it took just one day of use for several common sunscreen ingredients to enter the bloodstream at levels high enough to trigger a government safety investigation. This was from a study conducted by the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, which is an arm of the United States FDA. The study found that the blood concentration of three of the ingredients in sunscreen continued to rise as daily use continued, and then remained in the body for at least 24 hours after sunscreen use ended.
The FDA study enrolled volunteers who were randomly assigned to spray or lotion sunscreen that contained avobenzone, oxybenzone or octocrylene as ingredients or a creme sunscreen that contained the chemical ecamsule. The people using ecamsule cream had levels of the chemical in their blood considered statistically significant by the end of the day. For the other three chemicals, especially oxybenzone, all of the volunteers showed significant levels after the first day.
Its not news that things you put on your skin are absorbed into the body, which can present the potential for system toxicity and overload. So why do we continue to put potentially harmful and dangerous chemicals on our skin and in our bodies?
Young Living’s scientists, bound by the Seed to Seal® commitment to create the absolute best products available, developed a sunscreen that uses non-nano zinc oxide, which means when you wear this sunscreen, you won’t absorb the chemicals into your bloodstream.
Gary Young formulated a special blend of skin-loving essential oils for the Mineral Sunscreen Lotion. It includes 100% pure Helichrysum, Lavender, Myrrh, Carrot Seed, and Frankincense essential oils.
This over-the-counter sunscreen is lightweight, fast-absorbing, and provides your skin with added protection from UVA and UVB rays. Adults and kids alike get powerful sun protection, free from harsh chemicals. This sunscreen is also sweat-resistant and water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, so your workout or time at the pool is well protected.
Unlike most chemical sunscreens, Young Living’s Mineral Sunscreen is reef safe. That means the formulation used doesn’t contain chemicals such as oxybenzone and octinoxate, which cause coral bleaching, and sunscreens containing these harmful chemicals are banned in Hawaii, Palau and Key West.
Like mentioned before, Young Living Mineral Sunscreen Lotion formulation is made with pure, naturally derived ingredients and is free of avobenzone, oxybenzone, retinly palmitate, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, PABA and 1,4-dioxane, UV chemical absorbers, artificial colors, and synthetic fragrances.
Besides having fun, there’s nothing more important in the summer than staying safe from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. Contact me for more information on Young Livings Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, and how you can get it so you and your family can stay safe this summer!
